What are PFAS and PFOS?

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOS and PFOA, are persistent synthetic chemicals used in industrial and consumer applications. They are sometimes referred to as “forever chemicals” due to their resistance to environmental and biological breakdown.
PFAS have been detected at low levels in drinking water supplies worldwide.
